*** Closure of Arts Training Wales ***
Dear Network
As many of you are aware, the Arts Council of Wales has been reviewing Arts Training Wales as part of its review of portfolio service provider organisations. Sadly Arts Training Wales will have its ACW revenue funding withdrawn as of the end of March 2007. ACW has acknowledged the quality and significance of the work that Arts Training Wales has done over the years and the important role that it has played in facilitating the development of, amongst other things, Creative & Cultural Skills in Wales. ACW’s decision is based on a number of factors, including the changing operating environment in respect of training and professional development in Wales, the decreased funding available to the arts sector as a whole and ACW’s need to channel that funding into direct arts provision.
ATW’s Director, Zoë Rozelaar, will shortly be leaving to take up her new post as Wales Manager for Creative & Cultural Skills. ATW’s Administrator, Donna Jones, will be winding up the organisation with a likely closing date of 31 January 2007. Donna is supported by our Administrative Assistant Sian Griffiths.
The website www.a-t-w.com will continue to be updated until the end of January. In terms of client work, ATW will now only be able to signpost people in regards to their training and professional development queries.
The Arts Council of Wales has a database of arts organisations in Wales on its website www.artswales.org.uk where you can search for organisations by artform who may be able to advise you regarding professional development and training opportunities.
CreativePeople is the UK network providing information, advice and guidance to support all those who work in arts and craft industries in making the most of their careers. You can sign up to various e-bulletins via their website www.creativepeople.org.uk
Creative & Cultural Skills is the Sector Skills Council for crafts, music, performing, literary and visual arts, cultural heritage, design and advertising. It is an industry-led, campaigning organisation that promises to have real influence over the supply of education and skills across the UK. Visit their website www.ccskills.org.uk for more information about their work and to search for courses in these sectors.
ATW would like to thank the Network for its support and inspiration over the past five years and we wish you good luck in your work and continuous professional development!
With best wishes,
The Arts Training Wales Team
